New Feature: Downloadable Reports for Assets Limit Breaches
05 June, 2025

In 2024, Atlassian announced updates to how Assets is managed, including the introduction of new limits on object types and attributes. These limits are designed to support the future performance, reliability, and scalability of Assets.
You can view the complete list of data storage limits here.
What If You’re Over the Limits?
If your site exceeds the new thresholds, nothing will be lost; your data and current functionality remain intact. However, you won’t be migrated to Atlassian’s new and improved Assets infrastructure. This means you’ll miss out on future features and performance improvements.
Deadline: Ensure your Assets configuration aligns with the new limits by Friday, 13 June 2025.
What You’ll Receive
If your site is in breach, you’ll receive an email containing links to four downloadable reports. These are designed to help you pinpoint the specific areas in your Assets data that need cleanup.
Each report includes information to help you find the problematic attribute, object, object type.
No issues of a certain type? That report will be empty and no action is needed.
Understanding “Duplicate Values on Unique Constraints”
One of the reports focuses on cases where a “unique” attribute contains duplicate values across objects of the same type. This can happen due to:
- The attribute being marked as unique after duplicates already existed, OR
- A bug that Atlassian discovered, affecting some customers.
Both issues are addressed in the new implementation of Assets.
What Should You Do?
If you receive a breach notification email:
- Review the reports thoroughly.
- Adjust or remove any object types or attributes causing the breach.
- Aim to complete these changes before 13 June 2025.
If you don’t receive an email, you’re in the clear - no breaches detected, no action required!
As always, if you have any questions about this announcement, please reach out to the team - we’re here to help.
